ABOUT THE BOOK
Paul
Holmes’ book, "Dale Velzy Is Hawk,” chronicles the amazing adventures of
Dale Velzy, a larger-than-life California surfer, cowboy, biker,
hot-rodder and board-design pioneer, and his role in the birth of the
$10 billion global board sports industry. The 256-page hardcover book
features more than 250 photos spanning the legendary surfboard shaper's
entire life and career. Velzy died of lung cancer last July 2005 at the
age of 77.
Paul
Holmes, a former editor of Surfer Magazine, Tracks, and Longboard
Magazine, was chosen personally by the Hawk to write his story. The book
is published by the Croul Family Foundation in association with
Longboard Magazine.
