Thursday, November 22nd, 20007

Meet by the Fire Trucks at:
o  Lincoln at OB Parking Lot
o  Sloat at OB Parking Lot

ID REQUIRED:
Please show your Cosco Busan Disaster Service Worker Identification Card.

The Unified Command is in the process of disbanding....For now, Kill the Spill and Matter of Trust invites all certified volunteers to join in for one last official Beach Clean-up on Thanksgiving Day.

GOAL:
We'll be using oil spill hairmats to collect more oil for the myco-remediation -- Matter of Trust will be using oyster mushrooms to decompose the mats & oil from this cleanup & other sessions into safe compost!

NOTE:  Kill the Spill will keep us posted on any future clean-ups.  They are also working on shifting more attention to MARIN's beach areas and getting volunteer access there.

CLEANUP DETAILS:
The National Park Service Officials anticipate that Thanksgiving morning's high tide may deposit small tar balls and minor amounts of oil at Ocean Beach.

This sweep for new deposits is coordinated by the  City and County of San Francisco, together with the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Park Service.   Since the amount of debris is likely to be minor, there are no plans to close the beach or to deploy volunteers in full personal protective gear. Volunteers will be provided with the amount of protective equipment necessary in relation to the amount of debris, e.g. gloves, booties, scoops, hair mats and buckets. Lunch will not be provided at this deployment.

If there is a need for additional volunteer deployment in the coming weeks, we'll post it on zunasurf.wordpress.com.  and on the 311 website, www.sfgov.org/311.  Please check back these sites regularly for the latest information or call 3-1-1.
