SWAP
MEET RECAP
Thank you to all
who came out to our Surf Swap Meet Pacifica. We
had record turnout and many scored incredible deals from
individual sellers and major brands. New wetsuits from $20 &
up. Fishes, vintage boards, and epoxy boards went quickly. One
guy sold 12 shortboards in 2 hours. Yours truly walked
away with a sweet 5'10 M10 and Nate D. (pictured right)
scored a nearly pristine M10 for $150. Togos showed off Drew
Brophy art boards and gave away a ton of sandwiches and 500
coupons, their biggest single event so far in their
California Summer
Art Tour.
MORE
ON WET
MAGAZINE
Well, we really
enjoyed reading the new women's surf publication,
Wet Magazine, from
cover to cover, which was intelligently written for a wide
range of readers (not just teenage girls). The Rochelle
Ballard piece complete with a roadmap of every bodily injury
she's had while pushing the limits of pro surfing was our
favorite piece. The mag also features a slew of locals
-- Nikki Brooks' Mavs photo of Jamilah Star (see
masthead above), Jenny Useldinger on a sizable Waimea
peak, and the Partridge twins in a Betty Belts ad, and more.

THE STATE OF THE OCEAN
Santa Cruz
Sentinel's Gwen Mickelson urges you to read the alarming
piece, "Altered
Oceans" by the LA Times.
TANDEMS & GROM WIRE
Congrats
to Carve Designs co-founder Jen Baker, who tied the knot
with Micah Hinton earlier this summer...and
to Terry Simms, who proposed to NYC
surfer/photographer Nancy Opitz while traveling in
Indonesia. Also, congrats to second-time fathers -- Surfpulse's
Mark Alfaro has a new baby girl, Fiona Alfaro...and
Pacifica's Tony Rose, founder of SurfAlarm, is the
proud papa of Max Aidan Rose.
DAVENPORT
CASH STORE UPDATE

the
new
